The East Coast’s #SadBoy, Little Pain, teamed up with Jelz Much over a P ON THE BOARDS instrumental. Shouts to JSMTH for mixing the hell out of “Love Tears”. The #Sad superhero develops his crying surreality, licking his wounds to classic sounds, Jelz wiping away his tears with a tiny durag.
P.O.T.B. lays down old school chicken spot music for sure. A crying sax, trap-beaten snares, and weeping hums make sure that every sound reminds us of the saddest days. P.O.T.B.’s instrumental is a soulful twist for Pain, whose sounds have, to date, consisted mostly of pure darkness and tears. The instrumental gives a sexual tone to the #Sad campaign. A whining sax splits between tears and soulful love.
Pain and Jelz make for a thoughtfully sad pair here. Pain needs a bad bitch, but mostly a sad bitch, he says. Weeping brunettes and pouting blondes inquire within. Pain has become adept at developing a distinct character (not a fabrication) that is punctuated by thoughtfully crafted references in his bars. He’s exploring the world of emotional rap, being honest with the pain thugs can feel. Sure, every thug needs a lady, but she needs to understand her man’s hurt. Little Pain doesn’t want to make her wake up the neighbors with cries of joy, he wants her cries of despair to interrupt their sleep. Has Pain met his sad match? Jelz lays down bars aching for a saddened thug. Jelz doesn’t wanna laugh or talk; she wants to smoke herb and dribble tears out, making her the perfect companion for any hurt thug. She softly whispers her verse so you know it’s real. Jelz is ready to nestle her crying thug.
So how will Little Pain react? If he gets what he wants, will he not be pleased? But if what he gets is someone who nurtures his pain, his pain will continue. This is a paradox that only a true #SadBoy or #SadGirl can resolve. Will this make Pain happy, or will he continue to explore his saddened ways? Only time will tell…
